Alex has a special interest in sports chiropractic, sports injuries and treating athletes. This has led him to completing his International Certified Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma. Now not only does he treat a range of sports injuries at Liverpool Chiropractic & Sports Injury Clinic but he also forms part of the sports injury medical team at many national and international events.
June 2015 saw Alex selected as part of the sports injury medical staff at the World Sports Games in Lignano, Italy. See Previous Post here
The weekend of the 25th July 2015, Alex was again asked to work as part of the sports injury medical team at the national masters outdoor athletics championships, which allowed him to work with GB athletes.
This was at the Birmingham High Performance Centre in Perry Barr, also known as the Alexander stadium.
Chiropractors have been working at both national and international Masters Championships since 2001 as part of the BMMS (British Masters Medical Service) ensuring the athletes are at their physical optimum and if any injuries occur they can be swiftly dealt with.
Alex was one of eight chiropractors drafted in to help ÔÇÿfine tuneÔÇÖ the athletes and to aid in any sport injuries they may sustain due to their various events.
Events included track events such as 100m, 200m, 400m sprints, and 1500 and 5k races; field events such as long jump, high jump, triple jump and pole vaulting. And of course throwing events such as discus, hammer, javelin and shot-put.
Being part of the sports injury medical team meant they saw a wide selection of sports injuries athletes would sustain.
The most satisfying part of being part of a sports injury team at these events is when athletes feel remarkably better and see instant results before their event. It’s great to see how helping an athlete move and feel better and instantly increase their performance on the track.
